Good morning Lowell!

I know its been raining, a lot, and that a real drag. But I'm bringing two products to the @farmlowell market today that can brighten your day.

Move Aside - our mango and white grape bulamel. A mini tropical vacation in a bottle.

Edna - locally foraged crabapple mead, aged in a bourbon barrel, made with a dark rich knotweed honey. One of my all time favorites.

Big News Below!

27 years ago I drank a Longshot Hazelnut Brown Ale by @samueladamsbeer. It was fantastic! Sam Adams brewed this beer with its winning homebrew creator as part of a homebrew competition intended to inspire and stimulate homebrewing and the craft beer movement. It worked. I was inspired. I was a fledgeling homebrewer at the time and this single beer opened my eyes to the creative possibilities of homebrewing beyond your basic malt, hops, and yeast concoctions. This was the beginning of Sam Adams altruistic and philanthropic endeavors and they've gone on to donate and lend millions to small business owners in support of craft food and beverage, not to mention the countless hours of business coaching the Sam Adams staff has donated to help take small businesses to the next level. Today this supportive branch of the company is called Sam Adams Brewing The American Dream (BATD).

Well, we've got BIG NEWS!: Blisspoint Meadery has been chosen to participate in the Sam Adams BATD Bootcamp, along with 23 other New England small businesses! We’ll be receiving expert advice, networking opportunities, and business capital - all to help us take Blisspoint Meadery to the next level so that we can make more mead, bring mead to more places, and help more people find their Beverage Blisspoint with mead!

The bubble have spoken! This batch of Home got a little rambunctious after the first yeast nutrient addition. I've heard their terms and we've come to an agreement. They'll spare me the messy overflow this time around.

Well, not everything goes to plan. This pallet of 132 cases of clear 500ml bottles used to be stacked neatly 6 levels high. But, in the process of taking it off the truck, the shitty pallet it was on failed catastrophically and the whole thing came crashing down.

Silver lining: not a single bottle broke! As I watched it fall, in what seemed like slow motion, I braced myself for the sound of shattering glass. But I never heard it. While restacking, I did not encounter one piece of broken glass.

I believe in miracles. I also now believe in checking the integrity of shipping pallets before I load or unload them.

This is the last of Edna, our bourbon barrel aged crabapple mead made with Knotweed honey. It's mine, all mine, and I'm going to savor it!

Some lucky folks bought our last two bottles a few days ago and I kinda want them to invite me over to crack the bottles open with them. But I'll have to wait a few more weeks, just like the rest of you, until I bottle 2023 Edna.

One of our favorite times of the year. Pulling Edna from the barrels so we can put our finishing touches on it. This is our bourbon barrel aged crabapple and knotweed honey mead. This mead is so many kinds of beautiful. Almost there my friends...almost there.

Darker Recesses is a grape, black currant, and blueberry dessert style mead, with a nice chili pepper layer to follow the foreground sweet with a background heat. This is a fun winter sipper, if you're brave enough to venture into the depths...

Oxygen is important to yeast during the initial stages of fermentation to promote growth of a healthy yeast biomass. We introduce pure O2 into the mead must and circulate until the must is well oxygenated.

Here we're beginning our next batch of Grove, our gold medal winning dry Orange Blossom honey mead.
